We are seeking an experienced Freelance Press Release Writer who understands how to craft compelling media stories while strategically optimising content for AI-driven search platforms.
This contract combines traditional PR expertise with modern AI SEO (AI Search Engine Optimisation) to ensure content is discoverable, trusted and recommended across search engines and AI systems such as Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity AI, and Anthropic (Claude).
This is a project-based freelance role with ongoing opportunities for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Write high-quality, newsworthy press releases tailored to different industries
- Structure content to rank in traditional search results and surface in AI-generated answers
Collaborate with strategy teams to align messaging with AI visibility goals
Optimise headlines, subheadings and provide metadata.
Ensure all releases meet journalistic standards and media distribution requirements.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience writing press releases for agencies or brands
- Strong understanding of digital PR and SEO fundamentals
- Demonstrated experience optimising content for AI-driven search environments
Knowledge of:
- AI Overviews and AI-enhanced SERPs
- Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO)
- Entity-based SEO and semantic search
Ability to write in a clear, authoritative and media-friendly tone
Strong research skills and ability to interpret industry data
- Familiarity with press distribution platforms
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience writing across multiple industries (healthcare, professional services, tech, etc.)
- Understanding of how LLMs interpret and surface content
- Experience working with AI content optimisation tools
- Ability to provide performance-driven content recommendations
