About NEP
Join one of the UK’s most exciting and pioneering projects – the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) is developing onshore and offshore infrastructure needed to transport CO2 from carbon capture projects across Teesside and the Humber – collectively known as the East Coast Cluster – to secure storage under the North Sea. The infrastructure is crucial to achieving net zero in the UK’s most carbon intensive industrial regions.This is a first-of-its-kind, utterly unique and extremely exciting start-up organisation. NEP is in an incorporated joint venture established solely to develop and operate CO₂ transportation and storage infrastructure on behalf of the NEP Shareholders – BP, Equinor and Total Energies.
Your new role
As Senior Finance Controller, you will be responsible for the full remit of NEP’s financial control and reporting framework, within a highly regulated incorporated joint venture. This is a pivotal role, akin to an FD position. The Senior Financial Controller will be a key face of Accounting, Reporting & Control to the Board, submittees, auditors, and other external stakeholders (such as OFGEM and DESNZ), driving both control and change in a fast-paced, innovative environment.The role will be part of an initially small Accounting, Reporting & Control team reporting directly to themercial Leadership Team.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading end-to-end monthly financial reporting and statutory accounts preparation.
2. Managing the statutory audit process and filing of thepany’s statutory financial statements, liaising with auditors, regulators, and external stakeholders.
3. Designing and implementing robust internal controls and IFRSpliant accounting policies.
4. Overseeing outsourced providers (accounting, payroll, tax & audit) to ensure delivery to contract and value for money.
5. Preparing key financial MI for the Board and Audit & Riskmittee.
6. Monitoring project financing, cash flow, andpliance with covenants.
7. Driving process improvements and establishing best practice across finance operations.
What you'll need to succeed
8. Qualified accountant (ICAEW, ICAS, CIMA or equivalent) with circa 10 years post-qualification experience.
9. Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, statutory reporting, and audit processes.
10. Gravitas to operate at Board and senior leadership level.
11. Hands-on approach with the ability to lead and grow a finance team.
12. Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset, able to use initiative andmercial acumen to drive solutions.
