We are excited to offer a permanent Electrician position in HMP Holme House, Stockton‑on‑Tees (TS18 2QU). The base salary ranges from £30,866 to £36,135 per annum.
Work Hours
39 hours per week: Monday to Friday 07:30 – 16:00 (finish at 15:00 Friday). Saturday to Sunday 07:45 – 16:45. 1 in 3 weekends on rota with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary.
What you will do:
* Plan and perform preventative electrical maintenance, including related administrative duties.
* Actively locate faults and solve problems on electrical systems across the prison.
* Carry out like‑for‑like replacements and other minor electrical works, performing relevant inspections and tests and recording results in accordance with BS7671.
* Ensure all electrical systems are safe, compliant, and functioning effectively to maintain a secure environment for staff and residents.
* Assist the Responsible Person and Authorised Person when requested.
* Implement and follow Health & Safety standards, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work across all appropriate work streams.
* Assist with escorting duties and other duties as required.
What you will bring:
* City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 Electrical Installation works, or equivalent.
* BS7671 18th Edition certification (or 17th Edition with upskilling to 18th Edition).
* Good working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.
* Experience with planned and preventative maintenance operations.
* Excellent organisational, time‑management, and people skills.
* Experience working under pressure to tight deadlines.
* Ability to work at heights, independently, and use initiative.
* Understanding of fire alarm and CCTV systems (desirable).
* Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Basic IT skills.
