Band 8C (0.55 wte) Optometrist – Head of Service

About the role
The successful candidate will work within the Optometry team to deliver a range of specialist clinics at The National Treatment Centre and across Highland, Orkney and Western Isles in conjunction with our ophthalmology, orthoptic and nursing colleagues while providing joint leadership of the department with the existing Head of Service (Band 8C 0.45 wte).
Responsibilities
* Deliver specialist optometry clinics and services across the Highlands and island communities.
* Provide joint leadership of the Optometry Department alongside the Head of Service.
* Travel to peripheral parts of the Highlands (e.g., Wick, Portree, Fort William) and island communities; overnight stays may be required.
* Maintain and develop clinical practice, including post‑graduate activities.
Qualifications & Experience
* At least 4 years post‑qualification experience.
* Minimum 2 years experience within a Hospital Eye Service.
* Proven managerial and leadership skills.
* Active post‑graduate activities.
* Qualified independent prescriber (IP).
* Relevant post‑graduate qualifications.
* Registered with the General Optical Council as an Optometrist.
