Role Summary
HMLR are seeking a Local Systems Administrator (LSA) to join the Transformation & Technology directorate at their Telford office. This hands‑on, customer‑facing role is ideal for someone passionate about technology, problem‑solving and delivering excellent service. The successful candidate will act as the on‑site technical expert, supporting staff maintaining equipment and ensuring smooth day‑to‑day IT operations.
The Local Systems Administrator will provide 1st and 2nd line IT support to users based in Telford, ensuring local hardware, software and systems function effectively while contributing to wider IT initiatives such as laptop refreshes, system upgrades and the migration to Intune. The role will involve maintaining accurate asset records, troubleshooting incidents and working collaboratively with colleagues across 14 UK offices to deliver consistent, high‑quality IT services.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide on‑site IT support for users, resolving technical issues that require physical presence.
* Handle incidents and service requests allocated through the central queue in line with ITIL and ISO20000 frameworks.
* Maintain accurate IT asset records for the Telford site, ensuring data integrity.
* Support deployment and maintenance of laptops, printers and other hardware using Autopilot and Intune.
* Assist with project work, including Windows 10 to 11 upgrades, Surface Hub rollouts and laptop refresh programmes.
* Liaise with vendors, engineers and internal teams to resolve hardware or software issues efficiently.
* Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and sharing insights with the wider LSA network.
* Participate actively in the LSA Community of Practice, sharing knowledge and best practices across sites.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Knowledge and experience of working in an IT environment.
* Knowledge and experience of IT incident management.
* Knowledge and experience of dealing with Windows related incidents in a business environment.
* Knowledge of IT infrastructure.
* A sound knowledge of end‑user IT services and the technology that underpins them in a business environment.
* Ability to provide excellent customer support via a Service Management Framework.
* Ability to play a part in the development of a collaborative environment across multiple functions where new processes or procedures are introduced.
* Willingness to work on‑site and occasionally travel to other HMLR offices as required.
Desirable
* Familiarity with Autopilot, Intune and SCCM.
* ITIL Service Management Foundation certification (or willingness to obtain).
* Experience working in government or large enterprise IT environments.
* Knowledge of ISO20000 frameworks and service management processes.
* Relevant IT qualification (e.g. CompTIA A+, MCSA or equivalent).
