A bit about the role
Our peri-natal and infant mental health service, Blueprints, is funded by Scottish Government and a vital part of our work across the Outer Hebrides. You will be working independently as part of a small team and be supported by the Action for Children staff based in Bayhead.
You will be working with expectant parents and their babies, pre-birth through to aged 3. Your role will involve working with children and families affected by parental mental and emotional wellbeing challenges. You will work alongside parents to build their confidence, helping parents through pregnancy, birth and onto infant stages. You will empower parents and families by giving them practical, emotional and parental support, helping to restore a positive mental and emotional wellbeing in the vital early years.
You will work with children and families in both on a one to one and group capacity building up parenting skills, bonding and attachment and improving wellbeing. You will work creatively and therapeutically with families to give parents strategies, tools and guidance to nurture, understand and support their babies and infants.
You will be provided with training in an appropriate parenting programme which can then be delivered to the parents.
