Job Title: Health & Safety Manager
Location: Northamptonshire
Salary: £49,878 - £56,202 per annum
Hours: Monday - Friday, 37 hours per week
Job Type: Permanent / Full-Time
It is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional to join a varied and dynamic environment where no two days are the same. The organisation operates across a wide range of specialist areas including agriculture, construction trades, arboriculture, sport, animal welfare, food and drink, alongside residential accommodation, commercial operations, extensive sports facilities, events, and a large farming estate.
Working in a standalone role and reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a positive Health & Safety culture across the organisation, working closely with both operational teams and industry specialists.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading and promoting a proactive Health & Safety culture across the organisation
* Providing expert Health & Safety advice and support to managers and staff
* Ensuring compliance with current Health & Safety legislation and internal policies
* Carrying out audits, inspections, investigations, and risk assessments
* Monitoring accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring appropriate reporting and actions are completed
* Supporting business continuity and emergency planning activities
* Delivering Health & Safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks
* Liaising with external agencies including HSE, Fire Authorities, insurers, and Environmental Health
* Producing reports and compliance updates for senior leadership teams and committees
* Supporting occupational health initiatives and wellbeing activities
* Working collaboratively across multiple departments to drive continuous improvement
The Ideal Candidate
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
* Previous experience within a similar Health & Safety role
* Excellent working knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation
* Experience delivering Health & Safety training and briefings
* Strong report writing and investigation skills
* Ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of an organisation
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Confident IT user with strong administrative capability
* Full UK driving licence
* Proactive, approachable, and able to work independently
Desirable
* IOSH or IIRSM membership
* Experience within education, agricultural, industrial, or multi‑site environments
* Knowledge of environmental legislation
* Experience liaising with external enforcement agencies
