Education and Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE standard including Maths and English
* QCF/ NVQ level 2 healthcare related
* Care certificate
Desirable Skills and Training
* Health Related Training: First Aid, Moving & Handling, Food Handling
* Venepuncture/Cannulation trained
Experience (Essential)
* Experience of working as an HCA in a NHS Hospital Setting or GP Practice
* Understanding of confidentiality requirements
* Commitment to providing high quality care to patients, relatives and carers
Experience (Desirable)
* Experience working as an HCA in an inpatient or outpatient setting
* Relevant clerical experience
* Use of telephone in a busy environment, and ability to demonstrate a caring approach while maintaining patient dignity and respect
* Ability to communicate routine information, including observations, effectively verbally and in writing to staff, patients and relatives
* Ability to prioritise own workload
* Ability to work under own initiative within the boundaries of the role
* Demonstrates awareness of the importance of teamwork
* Record patient observations
* Basic nursing skills
* Basic understanding of nursing practice and the code of conduct
* Flexibility to work across medical outpatient areas, including early and late shifts, and willingness to stay when clinics run over time
* Ability to move patients and equipment, e.g., using patient hoists, commodes, wheelchairs
* Ability to deal with exposure to bereavement and challenging patients and relatives
