We are recruiting for a Site Security Assistant, to work as part of a team, to provide a secure environment for staff and students both ‘on-site’ and ‘off-site’ and to ensure that the mission of the College is upheld through the work as a Site Security Assistant.

Key Tasks:
Catholic Mission and Ethos
* To work with the students to uphold the Mission of the College by encouraging academic excellence and supporting their personal and spiritual growth through the role of Site Services Assistant
* Support the Catholic ethos of the College by being an example of servant leadership and upholding the teachings of the Church
* To foster and further develop an ethos of learning in line with the agreed Mission of the College within the Chemistry team
Site Security
* Patrolling and inspections – conduct regular college patrols and maintain a visible security presence at the front gate. Identify any security vulnerabilities, access points, fences etc
* Support at the start and the end of each day with the management of traffic
* Patrol neighbouring streets to ensure harmonious relations are maintained between the College and local residents
* Access control – Manage access points and ensure that only authorised personnel or visitors enter the college site. This may involve verifying identification and controlling electronic access systems when needed
* Incident response - respond to security incidents, emergencies, or alarms promptly and appropriately. Take necessary actions to mitigate risks, such as contacting the police, notifying supervisor/Senior leadership Team, or initiating evacuation procedures if necessary
* Report writing – document and report and security incidents, breaches, or suspicious activities in a timely and accurate manner
* Safety measures – assist in implementing and enforcing safety protocols and procedures, including fire safety, evacuation plans and first aid. Providing assistance to individuals in emergency situations, if required
* Communication and coordination – maintain effective communication with team members, supervisors and other departments to ensure a smooth flow of information and collaboration
* Compliance – adhere to legal and regulatory requirements related to security operations and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
* Comply with all safeguarding procedures as required
* To enforce the discipline code set out for students, particularly in respect of noise, litter, smoking, mobile telephones, alcohol and drugs
* To provide the above services at special events that the College holds occasionally throughout the year, including Open Day
Other Duties
* To keep up-to-date on legislation and procedures affecting security and health and safety and to attend training events as require
* To be alert for potential risk situations and notify the relevant manager accordingly
* To assess and respond to Health & Safety hazards around the College
* To undertake other such associated duties as may from time to time be required by the Principal
* To be fully aware of COSH training and procedures for ‘at height’ and ‘working alone’ arrangements
* To be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults
Must have a Fully Enhance DBS certificate - or have the valid documents to apply
