The Somerset House PR department is a part of the wider Audience and Experience team, which centres our audiences at the heart of everything we do – whether this be an exhibition goer, a family enjoying a skate, a coffee drinker sitting in our courtyard or a resident working inside the building. The team covers the entire visitor journey, from pre to post visit, combining Marketing, PR, Ticketing and Visitor Experience. Guided by a data‑led approach and in close coordination with our in‑house teams and valued partners, we craft and execute multi‑channel strategies aimed at elevating brand awareness, enhancing ticket sales and visits, encouraging creative professionals and organisations to join our resident community and fostering engagement both online and offline to ensure welcoming, inclusive, and memorable experiences for all.
This PR and Influencer Executive will play a pivotal role in our small and dynamic PR Team, responsible for supporting the successful delivery of integrated press, influencer and PR campaigns that connect and resonate with our target audiences across Somerset House Trust exhibitions, events and other activity, whilst also balancing administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the department.
The PR and Influencer Executive will take a strategic audience‑led approach, leveraging data insights to tailor messaging and maximise engagement, to ensure quality coverage across targeted social media influencers and traditional media outlets (print, online, broadcast), instilling awareness of both the particular campaign and Somerset House’s brand mission and vision. The role also involves working closely with internal departments and external partners.

Key responsibilities
Influencer discovery and delivery
Grow digital content creator network and engaged audience reach via influencers:
* Build out target influencer networks - use existing platforms (eg Brandwatch) as well as meetings, networking and influencer expertise to create a network of relevant content creators for Somerset House who engage our key audience segments around key campaigns.
* Drive digital content creator engagement - expand audience reach across our own social platforms which support wider PR objectives.
* Pitch for social media content ideas, securing posts and coverage in line with Trust and talent requirements.
* Follow wider industry and influencer marketing trends to ensure we execute the best creative and tactical solutions.
Journalist discovery and delivery
* Maintain, update and build target traditional media lists.
* Pitch for listings, previews, feature and coverage in line with Trust and talent requirements.
Campaign Management
Support the PR team in the delivery of key campaign timelines, messages and visuals, which concurrently aligns with and increases the awareness of the overall Somerset House brand:
* Writing engaging copy for press releases, media alerts and social posts, the basis of which can be used as content by media and influencers.
* Sourcing eye‑catching images to be used across media ahead of openings, negotiating all copyright clearances as relevant.
* Working with the team to conceive and organise photo calls, which can be used across all media channels once exhibitions and events are live.
* Briefing talent for interviews and attending interviews where possible to make sure both media and talent are happy with the results.
* Assist in the planning and co‑ordinating of events such as press previews, influencer activations, launches and creator‑led experiences, securing the attendance of key critics, reviewers, influencers and content creators.
* Devising bespoke, targeted lists of VIP invitees, which reflect the breadth of Somerset House’s cultural programme and community, and will generate press and social media coverage, plus handling arrivals, red carpets, photographers and pre and post event pitching, in collaboration with any VIP consultants, partners, artists and curators.
* Develop campaign management processes to support PR timelines to coordinate with wider Audience & Experience team – using digital project management tools Asana / Trello etc.
* Support with timely responses to media, influencer and partner enquiries, by phone, in person and email to the team across all projects.
* Working to budgets given for campaigns and ensuring costs are kept within budget.
* Working with external PRs and partners as necessary.
* Hosting industry breakfasts for select organisations and agencies to foster good relations with the sector and create good word of mouth for events and exhibitions.
* Handling day‑to‑day enquiries for information.
Driving collaboration & efficient ways of working between both Audience & Experience and other internal teams to ensure PR campaigns integrate with marketing and communications for a fully cohesive, impactful and audience‑first approach.
Team Support and Administrative Management
* Assist with general photo‑shoots and filming, in collaboration with the rest of the team.
* Support with capture and analysis of all media coverage and social media content, maintaining trackers to ensure accurate campaign oversight.
* Measure the success of campaigns and provide regular campaign reports as required aligning to OKRs distributed to staff, Trustees and partners.
* Manage the day‑to‑day contact with team service providers, such as media monitoring and media database platforms (eg. Vuelio), as well subscription services.
* Support with updating the Somerset House online press office and external listings sites / sector diaries with new projects.
* Manage departmental subscriptions.
* Support with departmental financial processes, such as raising purchase orders and chasing invoices/receipts.
* Attend internal meetings on behalf of the PR team.
Skills, knowledge & expertise required for the role
Experience
* Excellent knowledge of the social media and general media landscape and an avid interest in consuming news and trends.
* Proven experience of working in a busy press office, PR, influencer marketing or social media agency.
* Evidence of devising and/or implementing PR or social media campaigns which target the relevant audiences and explore opportunities to reach new audiences.
* Demonstrable management of talent and influencers, as well as collaboration with a range of partners and stakeholders.
* Tested track record of balancing administrative support and management with campaign work.
* Excellent knowledge and interest in the arts/cultural/entertainment sector.
* Excellent knowledge and understanding of social media and sound understanding of marketing.
