Job Title: 5-Axis CNC Mill Turn Programmer Location: Bolton Hours: * Monday to Thursday: 7:45am – 4:30pm (8.25 hours) * Friday: 7:45am – 11:45am Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Pay - Up to £60,000 About the Role We are looking for an experienced 5-Axis CNC Mill Turn Programmer to join our precision engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting, and optimizing 5-axis mill-turn machines to produce complex, high-accuracy components. This role requires a strong background in CAD/CAM programming, fixture and work-holding design, and a deep understanding of machining strategies for maximum efficiency and tool life. Key Responsibilities * Create, verify, and optimize CNC programs for 5-axis mill-turn machines. * Use Edgecam software for programming (experience in other CAD/CAM systems also considered). * Work with Heidenhain, Siemens 840D, and Fanuc controls. * Design fixtures, jigs, and work-holding solutions to ensure accurate and stable machining. * Select appropriate cutters, tools, speeds, and feeds for efficient and precise machining. * Monitor and improve tool life and machining performance. * Interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications. * Work closely with engineers and production teams to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturing processes. * Maintain a high standard of quality and precision, particularly for aerospace-grade components. Skills & Experience Required * Proven experience as a CNC Programmer (5-axis mill-turn) in a precision engineering or aerospace environment. * Proficient in Edgecam or similar CAD/CAM software. * Strong knowledge of Heidenhain, Siemens 840D, and Fanuc control systems. * Ability to design and manufacture fixtures and work-holding solutions. * Deep understanding of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and tool life optimization. * Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality. * Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings. * Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
