Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are looking for a dedicated Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary school in Skelmersdale. This is a full-time, term-time only position with the potential to become permanent following a successful temporary period.
About the Role
You will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils who require additional help to engage positively in learning. Many of the children have SEMH needs and may display challenging behaviour, so patience, empathy, and resilience are essential. The role involves:
* Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
* Promoting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
* Assisting with learning activities in and outside of the classroom
* Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
* Has experience supporting children with SEMH or additional needs (school or care background considered)
* Can remain calm, confident, and consistent in a challenging environment
* Has a genuine passion for helping children succeed both academically and emotionally
* Is available full-time during term time

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
