Salary

Competitive starting salary range from £32,942 up to £37,087 per annum (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered.

The School of Health and Care delivers an extensive range of undergraduate and post graduate courses for professionals working in health and social care settings including nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, paramedic science, operating department practice, diagnostic radiography, clinical psychology and public health. We also have a large portfolio of CPD courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels including Advanced Clinical Practice, Independent prescribing and Global Healthcare Management.


The Role

As an Assistant Lecturer in Nursing you will undertake teaching and assessments across our Nursing course portfolio, supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience.

Based within the School of Health and Care you will work closely with other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.


Duties include

* Leading the curation, adaptation, design, and development of teaching materials.
* Teaching modules at HE levels 4–7 in relevant subject areas.
* Supporting the design, implementation, ratification, and quality assurance of assessments.
* Upholding high standards of academic integrity in teaching, learning, and assessment.
* Preparing and delivering formative and summative feedback.
* Supporting delivery of simulated practice learning activities.
* Undertaking the role of Academic Assessor.
* Supporting course recruitment activities, including interviews and open days.
* Developing and modelling best practice in teaching, learning, and assessment.
* Advancing active learning pedagogy within the subject area.


Qualifications Required

* NMC Registration in Nursing (Current and Active) is essential for this role.
* An Honours Degree in an appropriate/ relevant subject area with professional qualification.
* A teaching qualification or acceptance of the requirement to acquire one if not already held.
* A PhD, or a Master's Degree would be advantageous.

* You will be passionate about sharing knowledge and supporting students in both clinical and classroom settings, with flexibility to meet learner needs.
* Enthusiastic and self‑motivated, you will have experience promoting and engaging in active learning with evidence of supporting student success.
* You will have working knowledge of how nursing students are assessed in clinical practice.
* You will understand the NMC Standards of Proficiency for Nursing.
* You will be aware of cultural differences and able to communicate effectively with diverse learners.
* You will be able to work independently and collaboratively, contributing to an innovative, flexible team culture.
