Based at our site in Simonswood, on the border of Merseyside and Lancashire, Puratos is now seeking a Production Shift Manager to join our team. The role is full-time, working Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work both day shift (06:00-15:00) and late shift (13:00-22:00) on a rotating weekly pattern, with the need to be flexible in line with business and customer requirements. The site is commutable from the Liverpool, Southport, Skelmersdale, St Helens, and Wigan areas.

Responsibilities
The Production Shift Manager is responsible for the effective, safe, and controlled running of the Production shift, focusing on KPIs: Safety, Quality, People, Cost, and Service.
Reporting to the Factory Manager, main duties include:
* Overseeing shift start-up and completion activities.
* Planning daily team activities (shifts, rotas, task guidance, breaks, overtime, wellbeing, safety).
* Ensuring the daily plan meets business expectations and customer specifications.
* Maintaining compliance with food safety, quality, health and safety, and people policies, escalating issues promptly.
* Liaising with departments, support functions, and management for smooth operations.
* Reporting and investigating non-conformances.
* Supervising new team members and agency workers, ensuring safety and understanding of processes.
* Motivating and engaging team members to meet targets.
* Overseeing training and development, addressing skills gaps proactively.
* Representing the Production team in meetings and visits.
* Liaising professionally with stakeholders (suppliers, customers, auditors).
* Deputising for the Factory Manager and covering for the other Shift Manager when needed.
Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
* At least 2-3 years management/supervisory experience in food manufacturing.
* Preferably 2-3 years experience in confectionery sauce production.
* SAP proficiency – preferably advanced.
* IOSH qualification or awareness of H&S regulations.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to engage stakeholders and support functions to boost team performance.
