This exciting development opportunity has arisen for a nurse with Dermatology and managerial experience to take on the role of Band 6.
The Dermatology Unit provides a variety of services including management of acute dermatological cases and emergencies. We have responsibility for clinics covering adult and paediatric dermatology including biologics, skin surgery and skin cancer, immunology, vulval clinics and patch testing services. This busy Dermatology treatment unit offers inpatient and outpatient advice, phototherapy, topical therapies and wound care management.
You will need to be highly motivated and able to demonstrate excellent clinical, organisational and interpersonal skills; undertake nurse systemic monitoring clinics and manage the Dermatology treatment room. You will be a clinical expert ensuring treatment is delivered in a highly professional, safe and holistic manner, with the patient as your primary focus. As part of this developmental band 6 role, you will assist with staff coaching, training and development, perform staff appraisals, be involved in the recruitment process, and support other managerial duties including working with the multidisciplinary team to meet local and national targets.
This post is 37.5 hour per week over 4-5 days, shifts varying between 7:15 and 18:00

Main duties of the job
To assess patient’s health and care needs, to plan, implement and evaluate care plans; including discharge arrangements.
To coordinate the running of the department including clinics, minor surgery and day treatment centre.
To liaise with Multidisciplinary team and Primary care services
To demonstrate professional expertise and knowledge acquired through post registration academic study and clinical experience.
To demonstrate managerial responsibility and accountability.
To support students, new and junior staff, providing effective monitoring, clinical supervision and reflection.
To be involved in delivering nurse led clinics
To support and maintain high quality care through clinical governance, audit and patient feedback
To participate in the recruitment process
To be involved in the management of budget and resources

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Registered Nurse with NMC
* Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent
* Post registration training within Dermatology specialty
Desirable criteria
* Post registration study to level 6/7
* Training in management
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Minimum of at least three years post registration experience to include Dermatology
* Evidence of providing evidenced based care
* Evidence of project management
* Evidence of staff management
Desirable criteria
* To be an experienced photo therapist
* To have experience in leg ulcer management and compression bandaging
* To have experience in managing Isotretinoin/systemic/biologic monitoring clinics
* To have experience in performing Doppler tests
