Are you an experienced GC-MS Analyst with a passion for fragrance and innovation? This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing independent fragrance house based in Manchester, where science meets creativity. You’ll play a key role in supporting fragrance creation, quality control and research through advanced analytical techniques, helping to shape some of the industry’s most distinctive scents.
What you’ll do
* Carry out analytical testing of fragrance ingredients and finished fragrances using GC-FID and GC-MS.
* Support the reverse engineering of fragrance compositions.
* Analyse raw material profiles and formulations to ensure accuracy and consistency.
* Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation to ensure optimal performance.
* Prepare samples using traditional and automated techniques
* Interpret and report analytical data clearly, providing insight to perfumers and evaluators.
* Support continuous improvement of analytical processes, methods, and documentation.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking a GC-MS professional who blends technical skill with curiosity, precision and collaboration.
* Degree in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry
* 3–5 years’ hands-on GC-MS / GC-FID experience – ideally within fragrance, flavour, cosmetics or a related industry.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving and data-interpretation skills.
* Strong organisational ability and attention to detail.
* Collaborative mindset – smart, kind, and respectful in working with others.
* Confident using analytical software and managing project priorities.
