Overview
Job Title: Electrical Design / Project Engineer
Role Summary: We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design / Project Engineer to work on commercial and industrial projects. The primary focus will be on designing control panels and related systems, but you will also take responsibility for running projects from concept through to completion.
Responsibilities
* Produce electrical designs prodominantely for control panels/systems but a general commercial overview
* Create and interpret technical documentation: schematics, single line diagrams, wiring layouts, etc.
* Liaise with clients to understand requirements and propose suitable electrical/control solutions.
* Manage projects: generate quotations/tenders, plan phases, assign resources (labour, subcontractors), monitor progress.
* Oversee commissioning, testing, and handover of completed systems.
* Undertake fault finding / troubleshooting of control systems and panels.
* Ensure health & safety, risk assessments, method statements are in place and followed.
Requirements
* Proven experience in electrical design, especially control panels / control systems.
* Practical experience in project delivery: planning, managing budgets/timelines, seeing projects through to commissioning.
* Strong technical skills: able to work with schematics, wiring diagrams; good understanding of relevant electrical standards.
* Good communication skills: able to talk to clients, contractors, and internal teams.
* Organised, able to prioritise work and manage several tasks/projects simultaneously.
* Health & safety aware; experience preparing and using risk assessments, method statements, etc.
Desirable
* Experience with PLC, HMI or VSD programming (or similar control systems).
* Experience producing or modifying control panels.
* Familiarity with CAD tools for electrical design.
* Previous experience with commercial / Industrial Maintenance & Installations
