Liaison Clinician-CAMHS

We have exciting opportunities to join our CAMHS Liaison Team at Hampshire Hospitals(Winchester & Basingstoke) and University Hospital (Southampton), as a Band 6 CAMHS Liaison Practitioner. The role offers a unique chance to work in a team that champions restorative practice, fosters an inclusive culture, and encourages innovative approaches to supporting young people and families in crisis within an acute hospital setting. The CAMHS Liaison Service is an acute mental health crisis assessment service. It offers the following:
Assessment of children and young people who have presented at Hospital with acute mental health concerns such as self-harm, overdose and suicidal ideation
Liaising and building positive relationships with hospital staff and wider network services such as social care and schools
Supervision and training for staff at the hospital
Consultation and advice for staff at the hospital and partner agencies
Safe discharge and follow up plan from the Hospital
Main duties of the job
The role of Liaison Nurse/MHP is to work in partnership with children and young people who present in crisis during the hours of the service in A&E. You will offer specialist mental health assessments and short-term interventions, including care and safety planning, risk assessment and management, and facilitate safe discharge. You will be part of a wider team, ensuring rotas and safe operating practices are in place. You will work alongside acute care colleagues, providing advice and consultation on appropriate mental health care planning to support a holistic care and discharge plan for YP with MH needs who are admitted to acute paediatric wards.
The post holder will work at all times to promote the safety and the well being of service users and their families/carers. They will provide clinical supervision to staff and students and act as a mentor for student nurses.
The role may entail an element of Community CAMHS Duty work outside of A&E Liaison.
Working hours will be across a shift pattern which includes evening and weekend work. Please see attached job description for both services.
