We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join their team in Birmingham on a temporary‑to‑permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an IOSH‑qualified Health & Safety professional with several years of experience to take responsibility for maintaining compliance, driving continuous improvement, and promoting a positive health and safety culture across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Advise management and employees on all health and safety matters.
* Ensure compliance with current UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
* Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
* Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, producing detailed reports and recommendations.
* Develop, review, and update health and safety policies, procedures, and documentation.
* Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and employee training where required.
* Monitor and maintain health and safety records and compliance documentation.
* Liaise with external agencies, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
* Support managers in implementing corrective and preventative actions.
* Promote a strong health and safety culture throughout the organisation.
Requirements
Essential
* IOSH qualification (Managing Safely, Technical Membership, or higher).
* Several years' experience within a Health & Safety Advisor or similar role.
* Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
* Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and accident investigations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong organisational and report‑writing abilities.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
* NEBOSH qualification.
* Experience within manufacturing, engineering, construction, logistics, or industrial environments.
* Internal auditing experience.
