We are currently looking to recruit an Electrician to work across West Yorkshire in our Bio Team within the Wastewater business area at Yorkshire Water. This is a mobile worker role.

Location
West Yorkshire – Bio Team within the Wastewater business area.
Work Type
Permanent. You’ll be working 37 hours per week. Out of hours, weekends, and bank holidays will be worked as part of a structured stand‑by rota. Once fully trained you will be assessed for working on your own and will participate in an out of hours stand‑by rota which will include evenings, weekends, and overnight callouts (no more than 1 week in every 4).
Key Responsibilities
As an Electrician you will undertake maintenance of Yorkshire Water’s Electrical and Mechanical assets across wastewater treatment and pumping installations. Mobile working as part of a BioTeam will deliver planned and reactive maintenance, responding to emergency calls both in and out of hours (on‑call rota). You will drive to deliver improved asset reliability through effective decision making.
Key duties include:
* Working unsupervised in remote geographic locations and being accountable for the completion of planned and reactive electrical tasks within agreed timescales, quality, and cost parameters.
* Managing and prioritising your own workload effectively and building and maintaining relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers, and contract partners.
* Adhering to the Health and Safety policy and standards, actively identifying hazards, providing mitigation, and reporting onto the company hazard database.
* Supervising approved Contract Partners, providing risk assessments and method statements where a permit to work is required.
* Using a Toughbook/iPad to capture all work activity and job status in line with workflow processes.
* Assisting in the development and training of apprentices and less experienced members of the team.
* Installing and commissioning new plant and equipment to relevant standards.
* Diagnosing and repairing faults on systems and plant.
* Pro‑actively identifying and reporting follow‑on work or areas for enhancement.
* Specifying parts and equipment required for procurement as part of day‑to‑day role.
Required Qualifications
* Recognised Electrical Craft/Technician Apprenticeship and either a City & Guilds/ONC/BTEC/NVQ/HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Eng Tech.
* Full valid driving licence (with no more than six points).
Desirable Qualifications
* IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (City and Guilds 2382‑18).
* CompEx 1 – 4.
* HNC Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Mandatory Experience and Knowledge
* Safe isolation to the current IET regulations.
* As a time served industrial electrician.
* Fault finding on control circuits up to the PLC.
* IT literate (e.g., MS Office).
* Ability to produce maintenance reports.
* Experience of fault finding with industrial motors and starters.
* Experience with industrial 3‑phase systems.
* Experience working with rotating equipment.
* Experience on LV control circuits.
Desirable Experience and Knowledge
* Experience of pneumatics.
* Work within ATEX standards.
* Experience of maintaining UPS systems.
* Fault finding experience of soft start or variable speed drives.
* Fault finding experience of actuated valves.
Additional Requirements
Previous experience as an industrial electrician within the water or wastewater sectors, or within utilities, process, or manufacturing industry sectors, is ideal. You will have a proven track record of maintaining and repairing 3‑phase rotating machinery and associated control systems, and a systematic approach to fault finding using industry best practice. You will be able to mentor others.
As part of this role you will work within confined spaces. Successful candidates must pass strict medical criteria including BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, and spirometry tests to ensure safety in hazardous environments.
Pre‑employment checks will include a Basic Disclosure Check carried out through a third‑party company. Depending on the role, a Counter‑Terrorist Check or Security Check clearance may also be required.
