Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join their team in Bedfordshire. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee the financial control environment, including financial operations and reporting. This role also involves overseeing the modernisation of finance operations, including Accounts Payable. What you'll do:
As a Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial landscape of our client's organisation. You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the company's financial control environment, which includes managing financial operations and reporting. Your role will involve constant process reviews to ensure that appropriate controls are in place, allowing the organisation to thrive. You will also be tasked with preparing cashflow forecasts for each business unit, ensuring efficient capital deployment. As part of your leadership responsibilities, you will manage a team of seven individuals, fostering their career development within a high-standard framework.
* Constantly review processes to ensure appropriate controls and efficiencies are in place
* Oversee the work of the Senior Accountant responsible for delivering regular management and statutory financial reporting
* Liaise with Finance Director and auditors to organise audits and similar reviews
* Prepare cashflow forecasting for each business unit to ensure efficient capital deployment
* Prepare consolidated accounts on a quarterly basis for delivery to Trustees
* Support efficient methods for accounting and financial record-keeping
* Manage a team of seven individuals, providing opportunities for career development within a high-standard framework
* Act as a leader within the Finance function, supporting continuous improvement culture
* Maintain strong professional relationships with senior stakeholders
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Financial Controller position is a qualified accountant with at least five years' post-qualification experience. You should have strong experience in an accounting environment, including accounts and tax return preparation. Your background should demonstrate your ability to manage a diverse range of stakeholders and your experience in finance operations, particularly Accounts Payable. Your skills as a strong technical accountant, fully conversant with FRS 102, will be crucial to your success in this role.
* Qualified accountant with at least 5 years' post-qualification experience

* Experience in preparing consolidations
* Strong technical accountant skills, fully conversant with FRS 102
* Good understanding of VAT and personal, corporate and partnership tax issues
