Overview
We have an opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our department. The role will involve providing high quality patient care across a broad range of specialisms, with an 8‑month rotation through Neurosciences, Acute Medical Unit, Priority Assessment Unit, General Medicine, Older People’s Medicine, Oncology, Home‑First Discharge to Assess Team, and Orthopedics.
Responsibilities
* Provide a flexible and comprehensive service to a designated area.
* Independently carry out specialised assessment and appropriate intervention for patients with complex needs, incorporating physical, personal, psychological and spiritual needs in relation to self‑care, leisure and productivity.
* Assess risks relating to the discharge process to ensure a safe and timely discharge of patients to the most appropriate setting.
* Provide advice and information to patients/carers including instruction and training regarding use of equipment issued.
* Carry out day‑to‑day supervision of qualified and unqualified staff.
* Prioritise own caseload.
* Maintain a high standard of professional practice within the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
* Be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of work, including accountability for the management of patients in your care as an autonomous practitioner.
* Use evidence as a base for practice, participate in service, multidisciplinary audit and research within the clinical area and use knowledge gained to achieve optimum outcomes for Occupational Therapy.
Experience & Skills
Experience working across diverse populations in a high‑volume acute care environment is essential. Strong clinical assessment skills, experience with multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to manage complex caseloads are desirable.
Workload & Schedule
Full‑time: 37.5 hours per week. 8‑month rotation with opportunity to rotate through all areas listed above.
