Background

Within this exciting role you will be joining our team to deliver holistic careand support for women experiencing or at risk of homelessness within ourforthcoming Women’s Centre. This role will involve working directly with womento provide access to trauma-informed care and support. This service will work inpartnership with other agencies supporting women to access support regardinghealth, housing, welfare and overall wellbeing, as well as provide education andemployability opportunities through psychosocial group-work and developingskills. This role offers an opportunity to foster a supportive community wherewomen can come together, access essential services, and embark on a journey ofhealing and empowerment.

Our small team of dedicated practitioners and volunteers are committed toensuring that women receive the best support possible. The Connect Hub is acommunity space that aims to provide an environment where all women can cometogether, learn, laugh, and ultimately, connect. Volunteering with us you will neverhave a dull day, and our passion for empowering women is contagious. Specific Tasks

- Alongside our staff team, you will provide a welcoming environment to allwomen and act as a point of contact for enquiries and alert relevant staffpromptly of any visitors arriving for appointments.
- Co-facilitating and coordinating group activities, workshops, and supportgroups. Creating a safe space for women to share experiences, buildconnections, learn new skills, and support one another.
-Developing honest and open relationships with our community that fostertrust.
-Advocating for women's rights and access to services within thecommunity. Providing information, referrals, and support to connectwomen with appropriate community resources and services.
-Upholding a welcoming and inclusive environment that will ensurepsychological and physical safety for women.
-Complete all administration that’s associated with the service, such asrecording data from each visit received, outcomes and monitoringinformation.
-Ensuring the safety and comfort of the public, staff and visitors during theirtime in The Connect Hub.
-Upholding our public areas and ensuring our spaces are presentable at alltimes and that basic daily cleaning duties are carried out.


Skills and Qualities Required

Successful volunteers will:
-Have the ability to work with people in our community with a wide rangeof experiences and cultural backgrounds with dignity, respect andkindness.
-Work as part of a team with a range of experiences and knowledge to thebenefit of our community.
-Be able to approach your volunteering role and tasks with flexibility.
-Have good communication and people skills.
-Be committed to high levels of customer service – experience of dealingwith the public both in person and on the telephone would be beneficial.
-Be creative and enjoy using your own passions, interests and talents tobring your role within The Connect Hub to life!

Please note that the Connect Hub is a women only service. We're currently only looking for female volunteers.


Commitment

We welcome volunteers to stay with us and continue to help us make a differencein people’s lives. 12 months would be the ideal minimum but we respect your timeand commitments elsewhere.

For this role we ask for a minimum of four hours per week or fortnight. We'vefound that volunteers committing to a regular slot works best for both the serviceand the volunteer – and makes rota planning easier. The Connect Hub is currently open from Monday to Thursday, from 1pm - 7pm, although these hours may increase at a later date.

Our recruitment follows theSafer Recruitment process, which means giving consideration to safeguardingarrangements at every step.We will ask you to attend an informal interview, provide us with two referencesand attend our Mini IMPACT training – a shortened version of our dynamic 5-daystaff programme.


Support and Training

- A full and comprehensive induction is provided for this role.

- In-role training is available – we value our volunteers and want to ensureyou are equipped with the skills you need to fulfil your role. We canprovide bespoke training relevant to your role within The Connect Hub,including training related to harm reduction, advocacy, and women’shealth.

- Simon Community Scotland together with Volunteer Scotland andDisclosure Scotland will support you with the required PVG process.

- Shadow shifts will help you prepare for the role – you will complete atleast three before becoming a fully fledged member of the team.
