Role context

The EUNA Region (EUNA) is recruiting a new Managing Director (Unit General Manager internally) for the Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) Unit to provide leadership and strategic direction to their respective business areas and across the EUNA region. The APD unit provides leadership of project, programme and commercial management (PPCM) services, alongside specialist and strategic advisory services, across sectors including built environment, defence, energy, water, environment, transportation, health and social care. We have around 1400 colleagues in our APD team at the moment.


Key responsibilities

* Provide strategic guidance and direction to ensure the Unit’s ambition aligns to and contributes to group and regional strategies.
* Develop and communicate unit business plans, strategic objectives and budgets with key stakeholders.
* Develop and lead Mott MacDonald’s win and do operations within the Unit.
* Grow and nurture external relationships with clients, partners and competitors; drive joint initiatives to influence growth and direction of the business.
* Collaborate with other Units, Regions and Markets; act as an exemplar and ambassador for the brand, ambition and value proposition.
* Analyse risks, market opportunities and competitive landscape to inform Unit strategic plans and feed into Regional and Market Plans.
* Support Divisional General Managers/Portfolio Leads to win and deliver projects, ensuring STEP processes and BMS requirements are followed.
* Act as a role model for Health, Safety and Wellbeing within the Unit.
* Review performance and monitor progress against monthly KPIs; ensure achievement of Unit objectives and financial/operational targets through innovation and digital capability.
* Be accountable for Unit budgets and continual improvement across Divisions/Portfolios in project performance.

* Lead Divisional General Managers/Portfolio Leads within the Unit; oversee enabling functions (HR, Commercial, Business Development, Win, Technical Excellence, Digital & Operational Management).

* Model ethical standards and values with zero tolerance for unacceptable behaviour.


Collaboration

* Be part of the EUNA Executive Team; champion Region objectives and drive continuous improvement; build relationships across the region and group to support Unit growth.


Candidate specification


Essential

* Experience of managing teams and/or operational or functional business areas.
* Strategic leadership with knowledge of relevant markets and key clients.
* Strong leadership skills to motivate, engage and inspire others.
* Effective team-building to deliver exceptional client service.
* Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
* Ability to listen, support and direct the Unit effectively.
