Paralegal - Court of Protection

We are recruiting for a Paralegal to join our Court of Protection team, which provides legal services to clients who lack mental capacity to make decisions for themselves. You will assist our solicitors with various aspects of case management, such as drafting documents, conducting research, liaising with clients and third parties, and preparing court applications. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in this complex and rewarding area of law.
Key Responsibilities
* Support solicitors with the day‑to‑day management of court of protection cases, including drafting correspondence, statements, reports, arranging payments, managing cash flow and keeping accurate records of transactions.
* Liaise with clients, their families, medical professionals, social workers, and other parties involved in the cases.
* Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of case files and billing information.
* Comply with the firm’s policies and procedures, as well as the SRA Code of Conduct and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
* Previous experience of working as a paralegal in the court of protection or a related field.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* A genuine interest and passion for court of protection.
* Extremely vital to have previous experience within property and affairs work in Court of Protection. Those with a background within a related field such as Private Client, Mental Capacity or Personal Injury will also be considered.
