Fixed Term Contract - 10 months
Full time 37.5 hours per week
Shift times: Mon-Fri, 8-4 or 9-5 (shifts vary depending on clinics)
Hybrid working available post probation subject to clinics
Salary: Competitive
We’re looking for a Senior Medical Secretary to join our Secretarial team based at The Devonshire Diagnostic Centre.
As a Senior Medical Secretary you’ll be responsible for ensuring the continued provision of the highest quality of secretarial and administrative support. You will ensure the appropriate management of patient appointments, liaising with patients and hospital staff as required in order to facilitate this. You will also undertake any other duties as called upon to carry out by the Practice Manager.

What you’ll do:
1. Provide full secretarial support to the Consultant (including audio-typing of clinical/non-clinical material, reports etc.)
2. Responsible for the appropriate management of patient appointments, liaising with patients and hospital staff as required in order to facilitate this
3. Receive new patient referrals and arrange relevant appointments across various hospital departments
4. Register new patients and ensure that all patient records are kept up to date
5. Respond to all written and verbal queries from patients and relatives, escalating to the consultants if required
6. Undertake any other duties as called upon to carry out by the Medical Secretary Manager, Deputy Medical Secretary Manager or Supervisor
7. Liaise with consultants and other secretaries to ensure the smooth running of the Out-Patients Clinics
What you’ll bring:
8. Substantial previous Medical Secretarial experience is essential.
9. Significant understanding of Medical terminology.
10. Strong attention to detail, accurate typing and letter proof reading skills.
11. Computer literacy.
12. Excellent communication skills.
13. Previous knowledge of DGL Practice Manager and Meditech preferred.
