Diageo’s Global Engineering team is a trusted partner that safely delivers best-in-class engineering solutions, bringing Diageo products to the world. We define, build, and embed best practice for all capital engineering projects. In some markets we directly execute projects; in others, we provide specialist support and guidance in areas such as packaging solutions, sustainability, master planning, digital and automation, process and engineering safety, and best practice project execution.

About the Role
As Engineering Programme Manager – Scotch, you’llbe responsible for leading and delivering engineering programmes that improve performance, safety, efficiency, and sustainability across our Scotch operations.
1. Location: Based in Scotland, with regular travel across Scotch sites and approx. 10% international travel for vendor FATs and global collaboration.
2. Reporting Line: Reports to David Pugh, leading a core team of around 2 Project Engineers plus extended resources.
3. Budget Responsibility: Manage an annual Capex cashflow of ~$20m across multiple projects.
4. Scope: Programmes may include distilling equipment, bottling and packaging lines, automation and digital systems, utilities, warehousing and logistics infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
5. Lead and inspire a team of engineering professionals and extended resources.
6. Oversee the planning and execution of maintenance, upgrades, and engineering projects across manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics.
7. Manage large, complex projects and multiple concurrent programmes through effective contract and supplier management.
8. Implement supplier development initiatives to enhance capability and performance.
9. Diagnose and resolve technical issues while driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency.
10. Develop and track performance metrics in line with Diageo’s Global Engineering Delivery Excellence standards.
11. Ensure all activities meet regulatory, safety, and sustainability requirements.
12. Contribute to Diageo’s Society 2030 goals through projects that deliver carbon reduction, water efficiency, and circularity.
What We’re Looking For
13. Significant experience in a senior engineering leadership role within manufacturing or production.
14. Recognised engineering accreditation or equivalent professional qualification.
15. Proven track record of delivering complex, multi-million-pound engineering programmes to time, budget, and quality.
16. Strong experience in contract lifecycle management and supplier development.
17. Broad technical understanding across distillation, packaging, utilities, and FMCG operations.
18. Skilled in leading high-performing teams, developing capability, and fostering an inclusive culture.
19. Excellent stakeholder management, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
