Front End Application Engineer – Eaton

What You’ll Do
As a Front End Application Engineer, you provide design assistance, value engineering, and product/segment (Datacenter, Utilities, Renewables, Oil & Gas, Industries) specific application support to the Eaton MVPD (Medium Voltage Power Distribution) Projects, Orders and Quotation (POQ) department, Sales Country Organizations (SCO), Key Account Managers (KAMs), EPCs, consulting engineers and channel partners. You provide necessary safety precautions and calculations during FEED, quotation and pre-order stages to reach acceptable solutions for complex technical issues. You can act as lead engineer for larger and complex projects.
* Understand the overall Data center value chain and translate requirements into solutions based on Eaton MVPD product portfolio (switchgear, transformer, modular).
* Determine and drive the technical quality of the quotation process. Interpret and agree on customer specifications to create competitive Eaton solutions including mechanical, electrical, safety and control systems, SCADA and PLC software.
* Understand MV switchgear and transformer design requirements (IEC, EU, EN codes) and support tendering stage with customer requirements such as rating, system description, protection, coil characteristics, temperature protection, vibration insulation.
* Work proactively with teams to build relationships with consulting engineers, end users and design‑build contractors promoting Eaton products (switchgear and transformer with busway).
* Develop pipeline through demand creation at influencers and strategic DC accounts.
* Participate in market requirement analysis to drive product technical features and evaluate risks.
* Lead technical evaluation, feasibility, clarification and execution of multiple projects in parallel while meeting requested return dates.
* Analyze electrical or mechanical faults, perform calculations and advise customers on solutions, ensuring no endangerment of company image or financial position.
* Advise on third‑party or special equipment materials and their costs.
* Write technical RFQs for non‑Eaton items that are part of a project and drive SCM for compliant bids.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
* Minimum 3‑5 years of experience in data centre domain or medium voltage power distribution.
Skills
* Architecture & technical knowledge of MV switchgear (RMU, primary) and transformers (liquid and dry type); exposure to LV, PSA, generators, packaged substations is a plus.
* Experience with MV equipment installation & commissioning including RMU/Tx/LV modular rooms and MV cable connections, termination, LV cable and busway testing.
* Insight into segment applications, electrical & mechanical engineering, calculations, studies and manufacturing methods.
* Understanding of commercial aspects of projects.
* Strong presentation skills to convince customers around technical solutions for MVPD products.
* Ability to work within an international, culturally diverse, matrix‑based organization.
* Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit to support design and technical documentation (plus).
* Leadership, creative thinking, customer‑centric approach, excellent communication.
* Capability to work with local and regional teams in a multicultural environment.
* Strong communication skills managing multiple resources with result‑oriented mindset.
