Job focus To be read in conjunction with Senior Finance Officer Job Profile which provides the full range of Senior Finance Officer responsibilities across the Finance function.
You will be responsible for the day to day financial support of a mixed portfolio of services or will specialise in an aspect of the provision of the finance service for example Financial Planning or corporate financial accounting.
You will play an active role in delivering the finance services’ continuous improvement programme. Through your well-developed financial skills and wide experience, you will be proactive in identifying needs for improvement. You will also be skilled at implementing improvements to timescale, gaining the support of colleagues to improvements and ensure their smooth introduction.
In fulfilling this role, you will provide leadership to the team in which you work, encouraging and supporting other team members. You will be approachable, develop the trust of colleagues and display fairness in decision making.
You will play an active role in developing your team members. Through the council’s Performance Review and Development (PRD) processes you will assist members of your team to identify their personal development needs and ensure that they have the skills and knowledge to provide a service that meets team, service and corporate aims and objectives. You will also ensure that the performance of your team members meets the targets set for them.
Your performance will be measured against mutually agreed key performance targets together with your ability to deliver to timescale quality outcomes.

Wide experience within a financial or resource environment of a local authority or other complex organisation of providing financial advice to senior managers

Proven experience in the preparation & monitoring of capital and revenue budgets

Proven experience in the maintenance and preparation of annual accounts in accordance with accounting regulations and codes of practice
