We are working with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in the Preston area that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join their team.
This role will involve working within a specialist provision or supporting pupils with additional needs across the school, ensuring they are fully supported to access the curriculum and achieve their individual goals. The school has a strong focus on inclusion and provides excellent support for both staff and pupils.
SEN Teacher in a Mainstream Primary School
Location: Nelson
Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner for transition)
Contract: Full-time
Salary: Dependent on experience – to be discussed at interview
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver tailored lessons to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
* Adapt the curriculum to meet a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, and speech & language difficulties
* Work closely with teaching assistants to implement effective support strategies
* Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
* Monitor and track pupil progress through Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
* Collaborate with the SENCo, parents, and external professionals
* Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being
The Ideal Candidate
* Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Has experience working with pupils with SEN in either mainstream or specialist settings
* Demonstrates strong knowledge of inclusive teaching practices
* Is patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting children with additional needs
* Has excellent behaviour management and communication skills
* Works well as part of a team and is committed to professional development
