Location: Scotstoun (1 day per month On-site)
Hourly Rate: £16.37
Contract: 12 Months, 37 hours per week minimum
Clearance level: BPSS
About the Role
BAE Systems Naval Ships is seeking an Document Controller to join the Central Functions team. This role sits within the Engineering function and is critical in ensuring all documentation is correctly classified, marked, and compliant with export control, security, and corporate requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Principal point of contact for stakeholders regarding the transfer of GCS documentation.
2. Apply and check markings for Export Control, Security Classification, IP, and other considerations.
3. Liaise with subject matter experts on issues not covered by current processes or agreements.
4. Escalate issues and share best practice within the team to support right-first-time delivery.
5. Suggest and support process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
6. Keep up to date with relevant processes, agreements, and regulations.
7. Ensure consistent security classification of documents in line with SME guidance.
8. Support Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) activities within the team.
Stakeholders You will collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including:
9. Export Control, Security, Legal, and Commercial teams
10. Project Engineering Leads
11. Technology Transfer Manager
12. IM&T and Windchill developers
13. Ministry of Defence Engineering Support Manager
14. Other business functions including Operations, Planning, Finance, Logistics, IT, and ILS
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
15. Qualified to meet professional competence requirements (e.g. IET or BCS membership eligibility).
16. Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office and engineering applications).
17. Experience using document management systems (e.g. Windchill).
18. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
19. Accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organisational skills.
20. Ability to prioritise workloads in a multi-project environment.
21. Proactive, self-motivated, and able to suggest process improvements.
