There has never been a better time to join our team at Torbay Council Engineering Department. We have a great opportunity for a successful candidate to join our Civil and Structural Engineering Team.
We are looking to recruit someone who has a knowledge of sound engineering practices and design principals in relation to building structures, and a knowledge and understanding of relevant design code of practice, and Eurocodes.
The candidate must have a degree in civil/structural engineering (or equivalent), and experience in using Microsoft packages, specialist design software, including TEDDS/TEKLA and in the use of AutoCAD LT and/or Revit LT.
Your role will see you assist the other engineers and technicians in the preparation of civil/structural engineering design of projects from feasibility stage to construction and maintenance stage. To ensure that all the designs are undertaken in accordance with current Eurocodes.

Skills
Essential:
* Able to communicate with clients and the public on a range of technical engineering matters verbally, in writing and by preparation of technical reports.
* IT skills including using Microsoft packages, and specialist design software.
* Ability to manage, monitor and review performance to meet targets.
* Ability to effectively prioritise workload and work on a range of projects simultaneously.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge
Essential:
* Knowledge of sound engineering practices and design principles.
* Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and statutory obligations in relation to building regulations and design code of practices.
* Knowledge of civil Engineering Method of measurement.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
