All of our sensors and instrument products are developed in house, and you’ll be exposed to the whole development lifecycle, as well as getting the buzz of seeing your products manufactured and sold to our customers.</p><p>We are recruiting an early career Mechanical Design Engineer into our Test & Calibration Instruments Team to design complex instrumentation products and pressure controllers used in aerospace ground support equipment, metrology, process control and high volume industrial test.</p><p>With a desire to attract Engineers who value varied teamwork and being challenged in technical problem solving, we are offering an attractive salary & benefits package and development opportunities.</p><p>For further information see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uwp3X5TGpfw</p><h3>Essential Functions (Responsibilities)</h3><p>As an Engineer you will be expected to resolve problems through the application of acquired expertise guided by precedent. You will work together with people from the business unit under guidance to assist in resolving and giving explanations on technical issues. As an entry level Engineer, we will provide you with all the development and guidance to become a confident decision maker, with the ability to solve deep technical issues.</p><ul><li>Design and validation of mechanical assemblies / fixturing and enclosures to agreed customer and product specifications and project deadlines in both plastic and metal.</li><li>Development and release of design documentation, including: Mechanical component and assembly drawings, Hydraulic and pneumatic circuit diagrams, System assembly drawings and User Manuals.</li><li>Participate in FMEA and Process Mapping activities to identify / minimize design risks and optimize design outcome.</li><li>Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.</li><li>Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.</li><li>Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.</li><li>Contribute to longer‑term design process improvements to drive productivity and efficiency.</li><li>Design Change Initiation and implementation in accordance with our business procedures.</li><li>Manufacturing technical support and provide solutions for production related problems.</li><li>High standard of documentation for evidence of conformity and technical explanation.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication.</li><li>Reviewing design specifications and requirements capture.</li><li>Ability to work across continents with remote engineering and sales teams.</li><li>Supporting external customers, internal sales and marketing functions.</li><li>Continually develop and advance internal operating procedures.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications/Requirements</h3><ul><li>Working towards a Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.</li><li>Knowledge of 3D CAD tools (Solidworks, Pro/Engineer, etc.).</li><li>Demonstrate solid engineering understanding, with practical hands on skills.</li><li>A solid foundation & an understanding of traditional manufacturing methods (DFM).</li><li>Exposure to working in design teams.</li><li>Knowledge of Design principles for Manufacture and Assembly.</li><li>Knowledge in generation of high-quality Engineering drawings/specifications.</li><li>Strong analytical & practical problem‑solving skills.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience.</li><li>Good people and time management skills.</li><li>Working knowledge of Microsoft Software packages (Word, Excel, Power point etc).</li><li>Proven ability to work to deadlines and respond effectively to requests.</li></ul><h3>Desirable</h3><ul><li>Knowledge and experience of PDM.</li><li>Knowledge of Additive Manufacturing methods and applications.</li><li>Experience with FEA & CFD simulation tools.</li><li>Knowledge of basic Electronic principles.</li><li>Experience of plastic mould tool design and mould flow analysis.</li><li>Experience with pressure measurement and generation technologies (pumps, sensors).</li></ul></div>
