Have you ever been to a wedding or civil partnership and thought that you would like to be up there leading the ceremony? Would you like the honour and privilege of this rewarding job role that can fit in around your existing responsibilities?
About the Role
The Leicestershire Registration Service are looking for enthusiastic, customer service-focused individuals to join our team of Marriage and Civil Partnership Officers. You will be based at one of our offices throughout the county. We perform thousands of civil marriages and civil partnerships in our office ceremony rooms and at over sixty approved venues each year. Our ceremonies are seasonal, we are considerably busier with ceremonies during the spring and summer months. Marriage and Civil Partnership Officers perform one of three roles at our ceremonies:
1. A Deputy Superintendent Registrar leads the ceremony
2. A Deputy Registrar completes the legal paperwork at the ceremony
3. Ushers help couples and guests move around our offices before and after ceremonies.
Full training will be provided for each of these roles, with Marriage and Civil Partnership Officers eventually being trained in all roles.
There is an expectation that you provide good availability (weekends, weekdays or both), with ceremonies staffed in a fair way across the county and team. However, this is a great opportunity for individuals with other responsibilities, as you will only be assigned work when you are free to work.
The nature of the work requires the post holder to attend at any location within the County of Leicestershire. In most cases, the use of public transport will not be appropriate, therefore a full driving licence, business use insurance cover and access to a motor vehicle will be required.
We offer a generous annual uniform allowance as staff must adhere to our uniform policy for ceremonies.
This is a rolling recruitment, and interview dates will be set for individual, suitable candidates. This will allow us to fully support the initial training programme required for this role with legal responsibilities.
This post is subject to certain statutory disqualifications (under the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Regulations 1968-86). Please contact us for further information about this.
