Job Description:
Looking for a role where your compassion can shine?
At Carr Gomm, we’re offering a rewarding opportunity to join our Home Respite team in Sutherland as a Part-Time Support Practitioner. You’ll play a key role in helping unpaid carers take essential breaks while providing meaningful support to the people they care for — all in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes.
About Us
Carr Gomm is a well-established Scottish charity delivering social care and support that truly makes a difference. We work alongside people to help them achieve their goals, live independently, and feel confident in their daily lives. Our Sutherland team provides short-term, flexible support to ensure carers can take time for themselves, knowing their loved ones are in safe hands.
Our work is driven by people, not processes. It’s about building trust, respecting choice, and delivering care that empowers. We provide the policies, training, and experience to back you — but it’s your values and dedication that will make all the difference.
No Experience? That’s OK.
We’re looking for people who are kind, reliable, and motivated to help others — not necessarily those with previous care experience. If you’re new to social care, we’ll provide a full induction and training to help you succeed.
Already worked in care? That’s a bonus. Your experience is valuable, and we’ll support your continued development.
What We’re Looking For
* A calm, compassionate, and trustworthy approach
* Flexibility and a commitment to person-centred support
* Driving licence preferred, due to rural travel
We welcome applications from any candidates already eligible to work in the UK or those that can apply for a visa granting permission to work in the UK (e.g. dependent visas, ancestry etc.) that do not require sponsorship from Carr Gomm. You will be asked to share proof of this prior to receiving any offer of employment. It is currently our policy not to offer sponsorship for prospective candidates.
Why Join Carr Gomm?
Alongside meaningful work, we offer:
* Anti-social hours payment of up to £1209 per annum when undertaking waking night shift (11pm-7am)
* Time and a half payment for hours worked over 37.5 hours per week (averaged over the pay period)
* Enhanced mileage payment of 45p per mile
* 35 days’ holiday per year, increasing to 40 days with length of service.
* £200 Recommend a Friend Scheme (T&Cs apply).
* Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption, and sick leave
* A Defined Contribution pension scheme, with incremental employer contributions
* Free Blue Light Card (giving access to thousands of discounts and promotions)
* Access to the Carr Gomm App: which includes free physiotherapy, health coaching and counselling.
