Purchasing Team Leader
Oxford Instruments Andor, a leading pioneer in high‑performance light‑measuring solutions, is looking to promote an internal candidate to the position of Purchasing Team Leader. The role will be based in our Belfast headquarters and will involve supervising, motivating and guiding the purchasing team while ensuring efficient material procurement and cost control across production operations.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Purchasing team, delegating tasks, overseeing daily activities and providing performance feedback.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for team members, offering guidance, training and coaching to foster growth.
* Act as a liaison with production teams, delivering timely updates on lead times and procurement status.
* Coordinate operational buying responsibilities, including approvals, supplier communication and contract management.
* Report on key metrics and escalation points to senior management.
* Collaborate with the Supply Chain Manager to control costs and continually improve internal processes.
Qualifications
* Third‑level qualification (or equivalent) with either 3 years’ relevant experience in a purchasing/buyer role or 6 years in the same field.
* Proven experience managing, coaching and developing a purchasing team.
* Strong background in procuring electrical and mechanical components within a manufacturing environment, with a record of supplier development and cost‑reduction initiatives.
* Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Location & Employment
Based at our Belfast headquarters. Full‑time onsite initially with a transition to a hybrid working model after six months.
