Job Description
Govanhill Housing Association is seeking an outstanding leader to join its senior management team as Director of Development & Property Services. This key appointment follows the recent recruitment of a new Chief Executive and the forthcoming retirement of the current Director of Development & Property Services. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping the future of the organisation’s homes, assets and neighbourhoods.
Govanhill Housing Association is a community-controlled organisation based in the southside of Glasgow, serving the communities of Govanhill, one of the city’s most diverse and established neighbourhoods, and Merrylee. The Association owns and manages over 2,800 homes for social rent, provides factoring services to around 1,500 owners, and delivers wider regeneration and community development through its subsidiary, Govanhill Community Development Trust.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead a substantial portfolio covering asset management and compliance, development, maintenance services and factoring.
* Advise the Chief Executive and governing bodies, and lead strategic planning, development and property services.
* Oversee significant budgets, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, value-for-money services for tenants and owners.
* Steward and improve a complex housing stock, including traditional pre-1919 tenements, and oversee major and planned investment, repairs and landlord health and safety.
* Lead and advance the Association’s development programme, through new build, acquisitions and regeneration projects, focusing on quality, financial sustainability and meeting housing need.
* Shape and deliver the Association’s approach to net‑zero and retrofit, secure funding and embed long‑term sustainability within asset and development strategies.
* Exercise strong procurement and contract management skills, and maintain detailed knowledge of property management, landlord and contract health and safety.
Qualifications and experience:
* Experienced senior leader with a strong track record in development and property services.
* Collaborative leadership style and a clear commitment to community-based housing.
* Ability to lead strategic initiatives and manage complex portfolios.
This role offers the opportunity to play a defining role in a respected organisation with ambitious plans and a clear social purpose.
