Welcome to Nature – Admin Support Officer

Job Description



Job Title: Admin Support Officer

Location: The Sill National Landscape Discovery Centre, Bardon Mill, Northumberland

Contract Type: Fixed-Term to 30/9/26 / Part-Time

Hours: One day per week (flexible as to how this is completed)

Salary: £25,183 to £26,409 per annum pro rata

Line Manager: Project Officer (Healthy Park Healthy People)

Start Date: ASAP

Additional Information: Some evening or weekend work may be required.





Project Background

Welcome to Nature is a project aimed at improving access to nature and raising awareness of its health benefits. It’s a key initiative within a national programme supported by Vodafone. The project focuses on increasing engagement with the natural world, enabling more people to explore and enjoy the National Parks, and enhancing the experience of current visitors.

Through Welcome to Nature, Northumberland National Park Authority will work in partnership with community groups across the North East to create engagement opportunities, develop inclusive resources, and foster deeper connections between people and landscape.



Job Purpose

To provide excellent administrative support for the Welcome to Nature project, ensuring smooth delivery of activities, events, and engagement opportunities.



Key Responsibilities

Project Administration and Support

* Deliver day-to-day administrative support to the project team.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial and participation data for reporting and evaluation.
* Assist in the preparation and submission of project claims and monitoring reports.
* Maintain a project database of participants, volunteers, and stakeholders.

Communications and Engagement

* Act as a point of contact for volunteers, community groups, and partners for the project.
* Support the promotion and advertising of project events and opportunities via appropriate channels.
* Assist with updating the Authority’s website and social media accounts with project-related content.

Event and Resource Coordination

* Provide logistical and administrative support for the planning and delivery of project events and engagement sessions.
* Coordinate the purchasing and distribution of project materials, equipment, and volunteer clothing/uniforms.
* Liaise with partners and businesses delivering project activity to ensure prompt payment for services and third -party compliance with health and safety requirements.
* Ensure all event-related resources are prepared, tracked, and recorded appropriately.

General Duties

* Carry out any other duties commensurate with the nature and grade of the role.
* Support the promotion of diversity, inclusion, and equality across all aspects of project delivery.
* Embed the values and culture of the National Park Authority into everyday work practices.



Person Specification

Essential

Knowledge & Qualifications

* Educated to GCSE level in English and Maths (or equivalent).

Skills

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
* Confident in using standard office IT systems (e.g., Microsoft Office 365 ).
* Ability to build relationships with a diverse range of individuals and groups.

Experience

* Previous experience in an administrative role within a busy office environment.
* Experience supporting events, meetings, or community-based activities.
* Familiarity with using office equipment (e.g., printers, photocopiers).

Personal Attributes

* Friendly, approachable, and customer-focused.
* Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to occasionally work evenings or weekends.
* Must be able to start by early June 2025.

Desirable

* An understanding of the role of National Parks and their importance.
* Experience working in or with voluntary, community or public sector organisations.
* Knowledge of data protection and GDPR principles.
