Role Purpose/Objective: Based at our Head Office in Smallfield, Horley (own transport preferred), this Accounts Assistant role sits within the Management Accounts team and reports to the Finance Controller. The position supports the day-to-day running of the finance function across multiple entities and offers broad exposure to management accounting within the construction industry, including property accounts. Key responsibilities include: As Accounts Assistant, you will support the Management Accounts team with a variety of finance tasks, including: Preparing and completing bank reconciliations across multiple entities Processing and allocating invoices Assisting with accruals and other month-end adjustments Posting journals as directed by the team Reconciling rental statements for tenants Scanning, saving, and organising financial documents to maintain accurate records Circulating monthly reports to internal stakeholders Reconciling the Sales Day Book Setting up and verifying new suppliers Supporting the team with other ad hoc tasks as required Experience/skills required: Essential Skills & Qualities Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Willingness to learn and pick things up quickly on the job Ability to work to deadlines and manage tasks effectively Positive, proactive, and enthusiastic attitude Good communication skills, with confidence to interact with colleagues Professional and discreet, with respect for confidentiality Comfortable working as part of a small, supportive team Desirable Skills & Qualities An interest in finance, accounts, or the construction industry Previous work experience in an office or administrative environment Essential Qualifications Minimum of 5 GCSEs, including at least a grade B (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English Desirable Qualifications A-Levels or equivalent in a relevant subject Interest in or intention to pursue a finance-related qualification (e.g., AAT) Why Join Us? 25 Days Annual Leave – Plus bank holidays, ensuring a healthy work-life balance. 35-Hour Working Week – Encouraging a balanced and productive work environment.
