Role: Lecturer – Science

Location: Tresham College – Kettering and Corby Campuses

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £31,930 and £36,878 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave (Pro-Rata) plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and Annual Leave is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 29.6 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Part Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Science to join our Health, Social Care and Childcare department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

1. Teaching & Assessment Delivery – Plan, deliver, assess, and verify subject specialisms across Levels 2 to 5, ensuring schemes of work meet awarding body standards and support diverse learner needs.
2. Student Support & Progress Monitoring – Guide students academically and pastorally, track progress, set targets, and maintain accurate records to support achievement and timely intervention.
3. Curriculum Development & Quality Assurance – Contribute to curriculum innovation, vocational enrichment, and internal quality processes including moderation, verification, and self-assessment reviews.
4. Professional Engagement & Administration – Participate in marketing activities, interviews, and open events; complete administrative tasks such as registers and reports to required deadlines.
5. Statutory Responsibilities & CPD – Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health & safety standards; maintain industry-relevant CPD and engage in training and development aligned with college policies.

About you:

6. Qualifications & Subject Knowledge – Holds a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant science subject, GCSEs (A–C) in English and Maths, and either a Certificate in Education or willingness to work towards one.
7. Industry & Teaching Experience – Vocational experience in the science sector, with up-to-date knowledge of developments in the field and a track record of high performance in previous roles.
8. Professional Skills & Attributes – Strong organisational, interpersonal, and influencing skills; able to meet deadlines, work independently and collaboratively, and contribute positively to team and college reputation.
9. Student-Centred Approach – Committed to delivering high-quality learning experiences, promoting equality and diversity, and creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all learners.
10. Safeguarding & Flexibility – Demonstrates commitment to safeguarding and professional boundaries, with a flexible approach to working hours and locations, and a proactive attitude toward ongoing professional development.

About Tresham College

Tresham College has three main sites in Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough, each with impressive modern buildings. Across our sites we offer a range of subjects including art & design, construction, engineering, motor vehicle, hairdressing and beauty therapy and more in support of our local communities.

About The Bedford College Group

The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
