Are you a competent and multiskilled Refurbishment and Maintenance professional or builder looking for a new challenge?
We are seeking an experienced Refurbishment Operative to join our newly formed Refurbishment team, working on refurbishing our children’s homes and schools as part of our expansion plans. You will be part of an essential team, executing planned refurbishment, maintenance, and repair tasks such as plumbing, plastering, painting, basic electrical work, and gardening.
We require someone confident in undertaking a variety of refurbishment, maintenance, and property upkeep tasks, with regional travel to support our growth.
You will report to our Maintenance Manager, Graham, and be part of a team of three.
Key Responsibilities
* Participate in refurbishing homes and schools to readiness for opening, and perform other maintenance tasks as needed.
* Collaborate with the wider maintenance team across our facilities.
* Follow all health and safety regulations and report issues promptly.
* As a key holder, be responsible for opening and locking the premises daily.
* Note that this role may require taking annual leave outside the standard school holiday period from July to September.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
* Experience in general maintenance, delivering work to a high standard.
* Proficiency in plastering, building, and decorating for comprehensive maintenance service.
* Basic plumbing knowledge.
* Excellent communication skills for effective liaison at all levels.
* Experience with powered hand and bench tools, ensuring safe use.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Comfortable with IT systems; familiarity with Jira is preferred.
* Full driving license is essential, with flexibility for regional travel and overnight stays.
