Production Line Manager - Assembly & Test | Christchurch
Salary: Up to £55,000 + Bonus + Pension
Hours: 37.5 per week
Are you a hands‑on leader from an engineering, assembly or test environment who loves keeping work flowing smoothly on the shop floor? This is a great opportunity to join a Global Engineering & Manufacturing Business at their established site in Christchurch.
You will take ownership of the full assembly and test process, from goods‑in and inspection through mechanical/electrical build, testing, calibration and final packing. This role is focused on engineering assembly operations, not manufacturing oversight.
About the Production Line Manager Role
You will lead a team of around 10 technicians delivering final assembled products that involve a engineered mechanical and electrical assemblies.
You'll manage workflow, ensure build quality, support testing activities and drive on‑time delivery. This role suits someone who enjoys being actively involved in the workshop, leading from the front and solving problems quickly to keep assembly moving.
Ideal backgrounds include: Production Line Manager, Assembly Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Team Leader, Workshop Supervisor, Cell Leader.
Key Responsibilities of the Produdction Line Manager
1. Lead day‑to‑day assembly, test and calibration activities to meet delivery schedules
2. Coordinate with Stores, Engineering, Supply Chain and Project teams
3. Ensure all build documentation, quality packs and test records are completed accurately
4. Manage non‑conformances and support continuous improvement of methods and tooling
5. Maintain safe working practices in line with Health & Safety standards
6. Support training and development of apprentices and new starters
7. Contribute to production planning and highlight risks to delivery performance
What We're Looking For in the Production Line Manager
8. Experience leading teams in assembly, test or engineering workshop environments
9. Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical assembly processes
10. Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret Bills of Materials (BOMs)
11. Proven ability to deliver multiple assemblies on time and to quality standards
12. Confident communicator able to work effectively with technicians and engineers
13. Practical problem solver with a hands‑on leadership approach
14. Engineering qualification (Mechanical or Electrical) preferred
