Do you share our ambition for achieving a consistently inclusive high quality education for all children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities?
Are you looking for a challenging and diverse role working as part of a friendly and supportive team, with an opportunity to make a real difference?
Being an Improvement Advisor in our team is a vital role in supporting schools to be their best and have ongoing school improvement, for the benefit of their communities.
The Role:
You will have a clear vision for education that you can articulate with confidence. You will have a detailed and up-to-date knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities and features of effective teaching and learning, in this area. With a successful track record of senior leadership within education, likely to have included headship experience or similar, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to meet challenges with optimism.
You will understand what develops the capacity of school leaders to embed ambition and drive improvement in their schools. We can offer a stimulating and outstanding team environment that collectively relish the opportunity to make a real difference to the achievement and well-being of children and young people in Hampshire schools.
What you’ll do:
As a Leadership and Learning Partner (LLP) for a group of special schools in Hampshire you will enhance their journey to excellence and promote effective partnership working. In this role you will join a strong county wide team in Education and Inclusion, who offer professional support, challenge and intellectual stimulus to a diverse community of educators, particularly school headteachers, who have high expectations of our service.
The role includes supporting the development of education professionals in the field of SEND, whilst also fulfilling a quality assurance function.
What we’re looking for:
The postholder will require a strong background in SEND, pedagogical understanding and successful leadership experience in a school setting. A demonstrable commitment to professional learning, research-based practice and keeping abreast of new initiatives will be important, as will the ability to influence others positively in their thinking and behaviours.
Why join us?
Hampshire has a strongly performing Children’s Services Directorate and high ambition for its children and young people. This post, with a dedicated focus on some of our most vulnerable children and young people, demonstrates our commitment to inclusivity and our drive to secure strong outcomes, in the broadest sense, for all. At all times the postholder will demonstrate and prioritise a resolute commitment to the safety and well-being of children and young people.
The postholder will be joining a highly effective county-wide team of school improvement professionals and will be an advocate of partnership working, with a strong emphasis on building collaborative approaches with and across schools, services and wider agencies. A genuine passion and a deeply held moral imperative to do the best for all our children and young people is essential to the role, as are the skills, knowledge and experience needed to translate our ambition into practice.
Our benefits package includes details of the holiday entitlement, pension scheme and interest free travel loans and discounts. We offer a flexible, motivating and inclusive workplace. We have created an environment that you can look forward to being a part of, where you are empowered to be your best and a workplace built on teamwork where people can grow and develop in their roles.
