The Anaesthetic Department at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is currently looking to appoint a number of Clinical Fellow's.
Successful applicants will be part of an on‑call Rota (or trained up to go onto an On‑Call rota), where they will be expected to cover nights, weekends and public holidays etc. There will also be an expectation to be flexible in terms of covering both elective theatre/emergency theatre or Intensive Care (with the supervision of a consultant based on experience).
The Department has many opportunities for colleagues to partake in projects and audits, and to gain experience in specific areas of interest.
Salary will be dependent on the level of experience the successful applicant has.

Main duties of the job
* Cover elective lists in main theatres, obstetrics, and work in ICU as per the needs of the service (with Consultant supervision).
* Provide service provision by undertaking on‑call commitments in Emergency theatres, obstetric theatres and ICU, based on current skills and clinical need.
* Engage with departmental education, governance, morbidity and mortality meetings and quality improvement.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state‑of‑the‑art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities.
A new Urgent Emergency Care Centre was opened in March 2023. The two‑storey development has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity and has provided almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space.
Qualifications
* Medical Degree from a recognised university (GMC recognised)
* Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies in line with GMC standards
* Advanced Life Support or equivalent
* Eligibility to live and work in the UK
PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION
* Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice
TRAINING AND CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
* Previous experience of working within the NHS.
* A minimum of 2 years full time post graduate training (or equivalent gained on part time)
* A minimum of 12 months UK clinical experience or equivalent
* Competent in basic procedures i.e. history taking, physical exam etc
PERSONAL SKILLS AND QUALITIES
* Conscientious Hard working Demonstrates good interpersonal skills with patients, relatives and members of the clinical team. Ability to work flexibly within the team. Ability to cope with pressure. Ability to respond to change.
* Leadership/mentoring experience
* Recognises stressful situations and responds appropriately
CLINICAL EFFECTIVENESS
* Previous experience of preparing and presenting Audits.
* Previous involvement in publications.
