Overview
The role of the Ambulance Care Assistant involves the transportation of non-urgent patients to and from health/social care premises and private residences. This is a responsible role which requires a professional and caring attitude, as well as teamwork.
Responsibilities
* You will work in a team of two, or on your own, undertaking duties in a variety of vehicle types.
* Transport our patients who are frail or need specialist assistance being taken to and from appointments at hospitals, treatment centres and other similar facilities.
* Attend a 3 week paid training course (Monday - Friday) to become a 'First Person on Scene' and patient transport driver; a full uniform is provided.
* Travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with Trust policy.
* You MUST be able to commit to undertaking the training course as outlined above.
Requirements
* Full UK manual car driving licence, with one year's driving experience. A maximum of 3 penalty points will be considered for a minor motoring offence only.
* Experience of caring for people with proven customer care and communication skills with the public.
* Flexible, adaptable, and at times discreet. A good sense of humour and local knowledge of the area you are applying to work in will be an advantage.

Training location and sponsorship
Training courses are held in Welwyn Garden City.
