Job overview

The Senior Digital Project Manager is a key leadership role within the IT Department, reporting directly to the Group Head of Digital PMO. You will be responsible for the scoping, planning, and management of a diverse portfolio of business critical digital projects. Acting as a technical lead and subject matter of expert, you will bridge the gap between business needs and technical delivery. You will exercise significant autonomy and initiative to navigate complex situations and ensure that digital solutions are integrated effectively across the Trust.


Main duties of the job

As the the Senior Digital Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end to end delivery of complex IT and digital portfolios that are pivotal to the Trust's strategic priorities. You will lead cross-functional teams and manage technical personnel to ensure project milestones are achieved on time, within budget, and aligned with objectives. Utilising your significant experience in technical project management and your ability to interpret complex data, you will define project scopes, allocate resources, and manage delegated budgets. Your role involves acting as a technical subject matter expert to evaluate technological choices and manage interdependencies while ensuring all solutions meet local and national reporing standards. To succeed, you will apply advanced negotiation and facilitation skills to hold stakeholders to accoutn, resolve conflicts, and lead robust change management processes in challenging, high pressure environments. Throughout the project lifecycle, you will maintain rigorous governance through risk escalation and professional reporting to senior Trust leadership.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

Project Leadership and Technical Delivery

* You are responsible for the scoping, planning, management, and oversight of a number of complex IT and Digital projects.
* You must define project scope, deliverables, and roles in collaboration with stakeholder, ensuring all required products are reviewed and produced.
* Technical leadership responsibilities include requirements management, design, implementation, system integration and quality assurance.
* You will evaluate technological choices regarding hardware, network, and code to find a balance between cost-benefit and future implications.
* Your are expected to identify, communicate, and track project vision and goals, ensuring they support organisational strategic objectives.

Operational and Resource Management

* You will lead and motivate cross-functional teams, assigning and monitoring the work of technical personnel to ensure steps remain on time and within budget.
* Responsibilities include defining, acquiring and allocating staff and other resources necessary to achieve project objectives.
* You will assess and manage IT interdependencies between projects and establish major milestone reviews throughout the project life cycle.
* You will manage and track progress and other KPIs, providing regular highlight reports through the governance structure.

Financial and Governance Accountability

* You will manage delegated budgets for each project, ensuring all financial targets are achieved and adhere to Standing Financial Instructions.
* Your must ensure all information is stored and accessed in accordance with the Data Protection Act and Trust Information Management policies.
* You are responsible for identifying, clarifying, and escalating risks, issues and changes associated with project delivery.
* You will lead on the production of communication materials and engage with stakeholders.


Person specification


Qualifications

* Educated to degree level or equivalent with post graduate qualification or experience in an IT project management related subject
* Qualification in management, organisational development, change management or similar


Experience

* Significant experience of Technical Project Management
* Experience of assessing and managing complex IT interdependent projects
* Experienc of managing and motivating a team
* Previous experience of using project tracking systems
* Previous experience of analysing and presenting information effectively in report form, in discussion and in presentations where there is need to persuade and motivate others to change their attitude and behaviour
* Significant experience of managing high profile contentious projects within an Acute Trust
