£26,021 FTE (£21,097 progressing to £23,442 for 30 hours per week)

We have a new exciting opportunity for a Payroll Senior to join our finance team in Fareham.
Reporting to the Financial Accountant, you will lead, manage and motivate the payroll team and be responsible for the operation of the payroll function.
As our Payroll Senior you will be responsible for ensuring our payroll is accurately managed each month, ensuring that staff receive the correct remuneration. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the required information is input into Lloyds, and relevant information passed to HMRC and the Pensions Trust.
Further responsibilities will include:

Managing posting and emailing payslips, pension letters and P45’s, as required
*
Ensuring that all statutory deductions are made accurately and passed on to the appropriate agency in a timely manner
*
Ensuring that all child maintenance and attachment of earnings orders are correctly processed and paid in a timely manner
*
Managing the analysis of all monthly payroll costs, coding, preparing uplift journal and posting into the nominal ledger
*
Managing the preparation of the BACS payment weekly payroll for the relief bank staff
*
Preparing, on a monthly basis, the pensions liability for both weekly and monthly staff
*
Preparing and importing both weekly and monthly HMRC payments on Lloyds and ensuring RTI information is uploaded
*
Assisting with the maintenance of the nominal ledger
*
Maintaining payroll related finance records, as required
*
Deputising for the Financial Accountant in their absence relating to payroll
Our ideal candidate
We are looking for a Payroll professional with a relevant qualification along with recent experience in managing payroll for circa 300 staff.
Recent experience of using a modular finance computer system is expected and you will have proficiency in standard accounts packages and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Previous line management experience is required as you will be managing the payroll administrator.
Good accountancy, numeric and literacy skills are essential for this key position, and you’ll have excellent interpersonal skills, organisation and communication skills as well as being a strong team player with a flexible approach.
