Senior Engineer - Cloud

Telent is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to join the Network Services division due to growth. This role offers the opportunity to work with new technologies across a range of customers. It is a hybrid role involving work from home and occasional travel to nearby offices (preferably Warwick or Camberley). The ideal candidate will have On-Premises and Azure Cloud skills, with eligibility for UK Security Clearance as the end customer is a UK Government body.
The Senior Cloud Engineer will develop and strengthen technical relationships with internal and external customers, providing proactive service and acting as a bridge between Engineering and Service Delivery, Projects, and Service Desk teams to ensure high customer satisfaction. This role also involves supporting Professional Services and Sales opportunities, primarily as a Cloud evangelist (On-premises and Azure).
Responsibilities
* Lead technical efforts within customer accounts for internal and external requirements
* Mentor and coach internal resources to improve service quality
* Train staff and customers on On-premises and Microsoft Azure solutions
* Monitor and report on customer incidents
* Identify trends, security threats, or technical bulletins affecting customers
* Maintain comprehensive documentation of customer networks
* Follow internal and external processes for tasks and changes
* Assist with Proof of Concept, Type Approval activities, and lab testing
* Create and peer review technical documentation such as High and Low Level Designs
* Support equipment staging for customer projects
* Participate in customer meetings and reviews
* Lead value-add projects and innovations
* Ensure accurate time recording and submission
* Maintain certifications aligned with role and business objectives
* Complete overtime and expenses accurately and promptly
* Adhere to GDPR and security policies
Candidate Profile
* Experience supporting Data Centre and Cloud Infrastructure, including Cloud-based Networks
* Proficiency in Cloud, On-premises, and Azure environments
* Strong work ethic, ownership, and hands-on technical skills
* Ability to build trust and collaborate with stakeholders and customers
* Passion for knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
* Customer-facing, proactive, and challenge-oriented attitude
Skills / Qualifications
* VCIX -VMWare Certified Implementation Expert – Network Virtualization (desirable)
* VCP -VMWare Certified Professional 6 – Data Centre Virtualization (required)
* VCP -VMWare Certified Professional 6.1 – Network Virtualization (required)
* MSCE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure or equivalent
* MSCE: Productivity or equivalent
