Job Description
This is a rare opportunity for a dedicated, experienced medical secretary to join our small specialist mental health team. The Liaison team offers assessment and signposting support to adults admitted to general wards or within the Accident and Emergency Department of Scarborough General Hospital. The team works closely with acute hospital colleagues.
As an essential part of the Hospital Liaison team, you will be based in the office, supported by our welcoming team secretary, working closely with the consultant, junior medical staff, and advanced practitioners to support our Trust's mission of creating a great experience for patients, carers, and families.
If you have experience working in a clinical setting as a medical secretary or administrator, are confident in using IT packages daily, and thrive in a dynamic, busy environment, we are looking for you.
The post is 22.5 hours per week; days and times will be agreed with the successful candidate.
You must have the Right to Work in the UK. Please note, this role does not meet the criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa, and sponsorship cannot be offered.
Main duties of the job

You will work closely with nurses, consultants, junior doctors, psychologists, and management, providing admin support such as digital dictation, copy typing of patient letters, diary management, minute-taking, and recording sensitive information accurately in Trust systems. Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential):
* BTEC Diploma/Level 3 Diploma in Leadership and Management or equivalent (e.g., NVQ in Business Administration). Willingness to pursue Level 5 qualification.
* IT Qualification (ECDL or RSA) or equivalent experience.
* Key skills in literacy and numeracy at Level 2 or equivalent GCSE grades.
Experience (Essential):
* Implementing and maintaining systems within an admin team.
* Leading, supervising, and training administrative staff.
* Experience with digital audio typing, Microsoft Office, diary management, and report preparation.
* Coordinating meetings and managing data.
* Participating in quality improvement initiatives.
* Advanced typing and data entry skills.
Knowledge (Essential):
* Understanding of data protection and confidentiality.
* Knowledge of quality improvement processes.
