Job Description

SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: SuttonStart Date: As soon as possibleContract Type: Temporary and permanentSalary: £100 – £115 per day (depending on experience)

Join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Sutton, dedicated to supporting pupils with a wide range of additional and complex needs. We are currently seeking a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support and help create a nurturing, structured learning environment.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to support pupils with additional needs on a 1:1 or small group basis. This role is ideal for someone passionate about inclusive education, with the patience, empathy, and resilience to support pupils academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

* Support pupils with SEN in class, in small groups, and on a 1:1 basis
* Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs and EHCP targets
* Assist with personal care, where required (training provided)
* Implement agreed behaviour support strategies
* Encourage social interaction and emotional development
* Prepare and organise classroom resources and specialist equipment
* Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and external professionals

Requirements:

* Experience working with children with SEN (essential)
* Experience in a school or educational setting (essential)
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
* Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
* First Aid qualification or willingness to train (preferred)

Working Conditions:

* 30 hours per week (term-time)
* Classroom-based role supporting pupils with complex needs
* May include physical support and personal care duties
